About Ottomara
Ottomara started with a simple frustration: great outdoor furniture was either beautiful or portable, never both. The heavy, expensive stuff never left the patio. The foldable, packable stuff felt cheap and fell apart after a season in the sun.
So we went to Turkey — a country with a long, serious tradition in metalwork and outdoor living — and partnered with makers who build furniture the way it should be built. Anodized aluminium frames that won't rust. High-frequency welded seams instead of stitching, because stitching is where outdoor furniture fails first. Glass-reinforced polyamide connectors at the joints. And Phifertex® mesh slings, woven in Alabama by Phifer and specified for commercial outdoor furniture — fabric that breathes, dries fast and holds its shape under weight. It is the most expensive part of the chair and the part we refuse to substitute.
Then we obsessed over the fold. Every Ottomara piece collapses flat in seconds, with no tools and no loose parts, and comes with a carrying bag in the box. Premium furniture that actually goes where you go.
Where we are today
We're a small, founder-run company at the very beginning of our story. That means two things for you. Every detail is personal to us — there's no committee here, just two people who care a lot about a chair. And your early support genuinely matters.
We'd rather earn your trust with honest materials, clear specifications and furniture that lasts than with marketing noise. If something isn't right, tell us. You'll be talking to the people who made the decision.
Why we're pre-selling
We're not going to dress this up. Everything on this site is a pre-order, because our first production run hasn't been made yet. There are two reasons for that, and both of them are about you.
The first is money. We're funding Ottomara ourselves, and a container of hand-finished aluminium furniture from Turkey is not a small cheque. Pre-orders are what pay for that first run. If you order now, your money is doing something specific — it is buying the aluminium, the Phifertex® and the freight for the pieces we are about to make.
The second is that we'd rather ask than guess. We show a lot of colourways. Some of them will turn out to be the ones everybody wants, and some of them won't. We would rather learn that from real orders than from our own optimism, and then make the right things in the right quantities. What people choose over the next few months decides what the first run actually contains. You are not only buying a chair early; you are helping choose which chairs get built.
That is a lot to ask of someone buying from a brand they have never heard of, so we have tried to make it as low-risk as we know how. You can cancel at any time before your order ships, for any reason, and get every penny back — no fee, no argument, no window that quietly closes. You get a specific ship-by date in writing the moment you order. If we are going to miss it, you will hear from us before it passes, not after, and you will get a straight choice to wait or walk away. The full detail is on our Pre-Order Terms page, and we wrote it to be read rather than survived.
The first 100 units are $50 off. That is not manufactured urgency — it is simply what we think it is worth to back something before it exists.
Welcome to Ottomara. Let's get outside.
