The Bosphorus is a full-length outdoor lounger built the way outdoor furniture used to be built — by hand, from real materials, to actually last. The frame is crafted in Turkey from anodized aluminium that won't rust, and the seat is a Phifertex® sling, the American-woven mesh specified for commercial outdoor furniture. When you're done, it folds down to a slim panel you can carry in one hand. No tools, no loose parts, no wrestling.

About the sling fabric

The seat is Phifertex®, a 100% woven vinyl-coated polyester mesh made by Phifer Incorporated in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Every polyester core yarn is individually coated in PVC before it is woven, so no moisture ever reaches the fibre. That is what lets the sling carry body weight under tension without stretching, sagging or splitting — the property Phifer calls "slingable," and the reason this fabric is specified for hotel and poolside furniture rather than for cushions.

• GREENGUARD® Certified for low chemical emissions — screened against more than 360 volatile organic compounds. Phifer was the first manufacturer in the outdoor fabric industry to achieve the certification.
• Microban® antimicrobial protection built into the fabric, inhibiting the bacteria, mould and mildew that cause stains and odours. It works continuously for the life of the product and does not wash off or wear away.
• Flame resistant — NFPA 101 Life Safety Code Class A, IBC Class A, UFAC Class I, FMVSS 302 and California Technical Bulletin 117-2013.

Care

Wipe the frame with a damp cloth. For the sling, use Phifer's own instructions for Phifertex: one tablespoon of liquid dish detergent and two tablespoons of household bleach mixed into a gallon of water, applied with a sponge or soft cloth. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and let it air dry. Keep the fabric out of direct contact with oil-based products, which accelerate ageing — if it happens, clean it promptly. Storing the lounger indoors over winter will slow UV fading.
